Mr. Shankar Samrat a noted magician met media persons at a get together on the eve of start of his magic shows in the city, said that magic is a performing art and should be given government protection so that this fine art that is fast dying does not see untimely death. He wanted the government to set up a Jaadu Academy on the pattern of Lalit Kala Academy. He agreed that the presence of television has somewhat taken a toll on performing arts and magic shows are no exception to this, but still there are people who love to see magic shows and other performing arts.

He clarified that there is nothing supernatural in magic art, and it is like any other skill but is perhaps more difficult to learn as it combines several skill together. He said that magic is still very popular abroad where unlike India, people do not see it as a supernatural power but do appreciate the performance of magicians.

The magician launched his shows at Suraj Theater Sirsa by giving a breathtaking performance of riding a motorcycle blindfolded amidst busy city roads.
Shankar Samrat told Sirsa NEWS that he had sentimental attachment with SIRSA, as his birth place is Ellenabad, a subdivision of SIRSA. He said a part of the revenue from tickets shall go to CM Haryana Relief fund.

HMSRU is an affiliate of FMRAI (FEDERATION OF MEDICAL & SALES REPRESENTATIVES’ ASSOCIATIONS OF INDIA)

Background of FMRAI was first formed at Hyderabad in 1962 where it aimed to improve living conditions of the Medical Representatives. It has traveled a long way in building itself as real trade union body. Form the idea that the medical representatives are not workers but somewhat like managers to demand and agitate for recognition as workmen took almost a decade. The management of the pharmaceuticals industry always isolated the medical representatives from the other workers in the factory and office. There was inhibition from the medical representatives also to consider themselves as a workman.
