On
11th August 2014 Farmers of the Tail End of SGC protested against theft of
Bhakhra Canal water from Ottu Feeder upstream between Ottu Head and Rori Head.
The Farmers raised Slogans against SE Irrigation, XEN, Haryana Govt and
Irrigation minister Haryana, and then burnt effigy of Irrigation Minister
Haryana in from of main gate of Irrigation Department Canal Colony NH10 Sirsa.
Later on mediation of Parmjit Singh SDM Sirsa the matter was resolved. SDM
offered glass of juice to Bhim Sain Sai of Village Talwara to break his
Fast that he was keeping in front of SE
office since 7th August 2014 in protest against the illegal rice shoots in Ottu
feeder on alleged connivance with the senior officers of Irrigation department.
SE Sh KR Sihag was not in his office for comments. XEN Sh NK Bhola joined SDM
in resolving the matter. Adv. Jarnail Singh Brar, Adv Surinder Sardana, Sh
Kukreja, Bhim Sain Sai, Gurmel Brar and several villagers from the Tail end
villages joined the protest. The SDM promised that all irregularities will be
removed by 15th August 2014. Upon his assurance the protesters suspended their
agitation.
